There is no such thing as a tough brain.

As parents, we purchase shin guards, elbow pads, mouth guards, helmets and other sports equipment in an effort to protect our athletes for the love of the game. Now it’s time to add the easily administered concussion screening tool, the King-Devick Test in association with Mayo Clinic, to the list.

85% of concussions go undiagnosed

K-D Test is an accurate and objective remove-from-play sideline concussion screening test. With results in less than two minutes, trained parents, coaches and athletic trainers can quickly assess if an athlete requires additional medical attention.

EVERY SPORT. EVERY ATHLETE.

For us, the test is quick and objective, and players who might otherwise hide symptoms cannot hide a failed King-Devick test score,” says Kaki Schmidt, hockey parent and Safety/Concussion Program director for the Reston Raiders Hockey Club. “It is administered rinkside by one of the team’s parent safety volunteers, allowing coaches to continue running the bench.

What is the King-Devick Test?

What It Is

King-Devick Test is an validated, accurate and objective remove-from-play sideline concussion screening test. With results in less than two minutes, trained parents, coaches, athletic trainers, and medical professionals can quickly assess if an athlete requires additional medical attention. Find out more about concussions here.

How It Works

At the beginning of the season, establish a pre-injury baseline score on your iPad or Android tablet for your athlete.  After a hard hit or suspected concussion, use the King-Devick Test app to screen your athlete right from the sidelines or at home.  According to our validated protocol, a worse post-injury test indicates that a concussion may have occurred and that your athlete should be immediately removed from play and evaluated by a licensed professional. Find out more here.

Where to Buy

The King-Devick Test is available for purchase for personal in-home use by parents for individual athletes or for larger athletic programs at the local club, high school and collegiate levels and beyond.
